And although many veterans of the pub quiz were in the house on the night vying a for a good start to the league, there were also a number of newcomers in the crowd as well. Firstly, we'd like to give a shout out to one such team - Noobies and Boobies, although we think boobies should always come first...
They rolled in with 30 points on their first showing, but seemed to enjoy the evening nonetheless! We hope to see them back next week!
Skipping to the other end of the standings, twas the four-time league champs Random Answers who were back in action, having been absent for the majority of the last quiz league...
They got their campaign off to a corker, as they rolled in to top spot with 46 points. And they even had some help from a member of rivals, and defending league champs, Squad 666, who were all but absent on the night. So lone Squad 666 member Paul sneaked into their pic!
For once, second spot, usually hotly contested, did not need a sudden death showdown, as regular Grafton queeps This just in... Pee Wee Herman was caught choking the chicken to the Iron Lady in the theater gobbled up that spot with 44 points...
Can they make a run for it in the league (and keep a consistent team name so QM Ryan can track their bloody score for once!)
And yes, as a reminder, if you want your team score to be counted in the league table, please either:
a) Keep the same team name each week (for the 8 weeks of the league)
OR
b) If you'd like to change your team name each week, please include a "league team name" in parentheses on your answer sheet so the QM knows who you are and can track your score!
Finally the people's prize for best team name resulted in some classics as usual, with If Susan Boyle and LL Cool J got together would that be tainted love?, as well as As I need is taint and Fuck Dumbo (referencing the question about movies using the F-word) all putting forth valiant efforts.
Ultimately though, the computer (cos, ya know, the Quizmaster has nothing to do with picking the best name) chose Thank Christ you pixelated Susan Boyle's Face! as the champ...
$10 for them. And, oh my, that's one sexy pixelated face...
